Bengals often go through what is called the 'fuzzy stage'.
Much like an ugly duckling phase, kittens fur can be unusally long
or ticked and markings can look washed out, faded or just plain not
pretty! Often cameras and light can make markings look even more 'fuzzy'.
This phase seems only limited to Bengals and other wild hybrid cats
much like their wild cat ancestors its a camouflage to help babies
hide in the 'wild' of our safe homes!
Bengal kittens coats also can take up to 2 years before they have
completely stopped developing in colour, clarity of coat and contrast
of markings. The best indication of background colour is to look at
a young kittens temples.
But don't let that stop you from carefully examining photos, listening
to breeder recommendations and looking at parents and siblings as
examples of what kittens will grow up to be like!
